Stanford
Stadium Construction to begin on Monday, November 28.
On Monday, November
28, 2005, construction of the New Stanford Stadium will begin. The
goal of the stadium construction schedule is to complete the entire
project during the off-season in time to open the new stadium prior
to the Cardinal's first home game in September 2006. To accomplish
this, an accelerated construction schedule, including nighttime
work, was approved by the County of Santa Clara. Construction is
scheduled to occur Monday through Saturday between the hours of
7:00 a.m. and 11:30 p.m.
The Stanford
Stadium will be closed for all uses during construction. The first
two weeks of activity include demolition of the existing stadium,
excavation and utility work.
Mitigation Program
A comprehensive
mitigation program intended to protect the surrounding environment
during construction will include: Stanford
Area Truck Route Map, minimization of truck hauling during peak
commute hours, night lighting requirements, dust control, landscaping
protection, and other measures. Construction activity will conform
to the County
of Santa Clara Noise Ordinance.
Community Coordination
Stanford is committed
to ongoing communication throughout construction. Construction advisories
and web site updates are planned to keep community members informed
about project activities.
Stanford recognizes that
the construction activities affect those who live, work, and travel
in and around the Stanford Stadium. One of our primary goals is
to be a good neighbor and to minimize disruption to the community.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation during construction.
