(SEQ 2) Connective Elements
Project Overview

Project Description:

Pedestrian Malls

Via Ortega and Via Palou will be established as north-south pedestrian malls similar to the Lomita Mall. They act as boundaries to the site of the SEQ 2 as well as pedestrian connectors for the entire campus. Via Ortega is to the west of the SEQ 2 while Via Palou runs through the center openings between the Ginzton Replacement and Bioengineering/Chemical Engineering buildings.

Service Access Roads

Via Pueblo and the South Service Road will be maintained as service access roads to the SEQ 2. Via Pueblo is to the north of the site and will directly serve Bioengineering/Chemical Engineering and Ginzton Replacement. The South Service Road is to the south and will directly serve Environment and Energy and the School of Engineering Center.

SEQ2 Quad

The SEQ2 Quad will be composed of large scale formal spaces, transitional spaces and more informal small scale spaces.  Drawing on the existing syntax of the campus, specific landscape elements such as existing heritage oak trees and reinterpretations of formal elements found in the vocabulary of the Main Quad will be utilized to give SEQ2 its own identify while linking it to the historic design of the campus.
